On International Women’s Day, breakfasts will be held around Australia as people come together to celebrate and declare their solidarity with women around the world. In Canberra this years breakfast will be held at the Hellenic Club, Matilda Street, Phillip, on Friday 7 March, 6:30am for a 7am start. Archbishop John Baptista Odama, of the Gulu Diocese in northern Uganda, is renowned for his peace building efforts in the horrendous twenty-year conflict in the region.
As the senior leader of the Catholic Church in the Diocese, and the President of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission, the Archbishop has played an instrumental role as negotiator between the two main warring parties, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan Government forces.

NSW: NGO Forum on Pakistan, 11 March 2008
Working in Pakistan poses many challenges for Non Government Organisations (NGOs). Understanding the political and social context is crucial to successful NGO programming. Caritas Australia, like many Australian NGOs responded to the earthquake disaster that devastated northern Pakistan followed recently by widespread flooding in the South. The effectiveness of these programs is directly related to the capacity of local partners such as CWS Pakistan/Afghanistan.
Caritas Australia is hosting an Australian NGO forum to further understanding of the changing operating environment in Pakistan with Takeshi Komino CWS Pakistan/Afghanistan Disaster Response Coordinator, as the guest speaker.

Through objects, photographs and personal interviews, Yinalung Yenu reveals the many roles Indigenous women have played in Australian society from traditional times to the present.
