 Inspiring Trip to Cambodia for Notre Dame Students
The students accompanied by Associate Professor Neil Drew spent 12 days in Cambodia as part of a social justice program run in conjunction with the Catholic organisation, Caritas Australia. The self-funded trip was organised and led by Janeen Murphy, the Western Australian Caritas Global Education Officer. WA: An Evening with Bishop Peter Remigius On Tuesday 27th February, the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle WA will be hosting an evening with Bishop Peter Remigius. Bishop Remigius is the Bishop of Kumbakonam in South India and currently the Chairperson of Caritas India. He is an eloquent and knowledgeable speaker who will be taking on his own experiences in shifting the capacity building objectives of development partners regionally and locally in India and throughout Asia from a charity model to a development model. He will also be speaking about his own personal life including the loss of four close family members during the Boxing Day Tsunami. Internationally acclaimed Indigenous writer/director Richard J. Frankland has created a two part documentary for MESSAGE STICK ABC TV which examines events surrounding what many regard as the first documented major massacre in Victoria. The G8 have promised to revisit the issue of development when they meet in Germany in 2007. But will they ensure that the needs of the 1.2 billion people living on less than a dollar a day are accorded the attention they deserve and are put at the top of the agenda? 
Meeting with survivors of Pol Pot’s infamous ‘Killing Fields’ proved to be an inspiration for five students studying in the School of Arts and Sciences at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle.
