Taking Action

"It is not just certain individuals but all people who are called to further the development of human society as a whole." - Populorum Progressio – On the Development of Peoples

ACT NOW
Food Share a simple meal
Try these fish recipes from Bangladesh. By preparing and sharing a simple meal with friends and family you will be showing solidarity for those in developing countries, such as Farid’s family in Bangladesh, whose access to food and ingredients is very different from our own.
Shop window Consume Less
Western Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand comprise just 12% of the world’s population and consume 61% or the world’s resources. In addition it is estimated that Australians spend a shocking $10.5 billion each year on things they don’t use. If we are to contribute to the sustainability of our planet we need to ensure that there are enough resources for everyone. Share what you already have.

Instead of buying more why not set up a clothing, toy or book exchange at school, university, at work, or in your local neighbourhood and share what you already have: a great way to get to know others and at the same time contribute to the sustainability of our planet.
Talking Pass it on
Let your behavior reflect the values you want others to espouse. Pass this edition of OzSpirit onto your friends or family so they can learn more about Fair Play for all. To do this, use the 'Tell a friend' form at the right hand side of this page.
Dreamtime Share a story
Celebrate International Mother Language Day on February 21 with dream time stories.

At the time of invasion there were over 700 different Aboriginal languages and dialects spoken in Australia. Now there are less that 250 still in use. A common practice of colonisers was to stop Indigenous people speaking their own languages, which interrupted the passing of language from one generation to another. Help keep Australian indigenous culture alive and celebrate Mother Language Day by reading these dream time stories. This and other action ideas can be found by clicking here.
