If you were asked what are the main causes of famine and hunger, what would you response be? Over population? Not enough food in the world? It's the direct result of natural disasters such as drought or flooding? These are many of the common answers, but is there any truth behind these assumptions? While there is enough food produced globally to feed everyone in the world, more than 800 million people go hungry. How can this be so?

Systemic Failure or Natural disaster? Charity or Justice?
The continually deepening food crisis in Africa is causing the peoples of the first world and those of Africa to continue to examine the problems, realise what the causes are and to search for what the solutions might be. It must be remembered, in this examination, that Africa is a large continent, not a single country, and that the reasons for the food shortages differ from state to state and from region to region. The Price of Aid
This documentary explores the hidden interests that lie behind humanitarian food-aid programs. Who really benefits from humanitarian food aid programs? On the one side is the United States, hit by a terrible urge to balance its gross domestic product and especially to assist its industry. On the African side, countries like Zambia - hit hard by terrible drought - welcome the food but also want to start producing on home ground. The program begins with the food on the plate of a refugee in a camp. It traces the story of this grain to its origins where the decision was initially made to send it abroad, examining the degree to which political and economic agendas dictate the distribution of aid.
